Chapter Eight

"Nigga, how and why? That's the two part question that I ask him as we're going to the impound. How and why what? Nasty asks. "How you keep forgetting about your taillight and why did you give them permission to search your car? The only thing he says is "it's called a secret compartment for a reason."  I say "looks like your secret got revealed homeboy."

We're silent for a few seconds.

Then we both burst out laughing.  The situation is not funny at all though.  He's facing some time.  They don't play about that ice and meth.  The Feds diligently monitor that market.  I hope that he realizes the predicament he's in.  We pull up at the impound and "B" gets out.  He tells me thanks again, and we give each other a pound.  I pull off and notice that it's about 2:30pm.  Pizza is on my mind so I stop by Papa John's and order an extra large Hawaiian pineapple pizza with ham, chicken, pepperoni, black olives, jalapenos, and extra cheese. I place my order to go and dial up Rainn while I'm waiting.

I ask if she's busy or if she's eaten anything.  She says she was just about finished cleaning up.  Today has been a lazy day. Even Gypsy's been laying around.  I say "yeah, that's how that 'GAS' has you feeling usually."  She laughs.  I tell her that I'm on my way, and I'm bringing pizza.  We disconnect and a few minutes later my pie is ready.  Alot of different thoughts run through my head on the way out to Rainn's place.

I'm really in no position to try and start a relationship.  I'm still trying to get on my feet.  And it's tougher out here now than it used to be.  At the same time though, realizing that makes me realize even more that I don't want to do this by myself anymore.  I must be getting old or lonely.

Listening to this Rihanna CD definitely has me thinking about life and life choices.  I often call my cousin Carol in North Carolina for her advice and wisdom.  She’s grounded, levelheaded, and caring.  Ever since my parents died, over a year ago, my self worth was about the same as "Logan," Marvel comic’s Wolverine. I was trying to find my way back from an abyss in the middle of nowhere.  She brought me all the way back, wiser, stronger, and ready build a life that my parents would be proud.

As I walk up to Rainn’s door, I immediately stop in my tracks as I hear “Rihanna” playing. I wonder is this fate? Yet, the song goes off. I realize that she must be listening to the radio.  Then before I can push the doorbell, Gypsy goes to barking and scratching on the door. Rainn opens the door.  Looking sexy as hell in tight blue jeans and a white blouse, barefooted of course.  We have to be on the same wavelength or something.  I threw on blue jeans and a white T this morning as well.  She tells me “Come on in stranger or are you waiting on daylight to catch you?”  Both Gypsy and I look at her like she’s being weird.  I say “I don’t know about you, but I’m starving.”

I walk through her doorway.  I place the pie on her kitchen table.  As soon as I do Rainn runs and jumps up in my arms.  I catch her, and she wraps her legs around my waist and kisses me deeply, passionately.  I’m surprised, pleasantly so.  My body immediately starts reacting.  She slips down and starts pulling me to the back by my belt.  I tell her to “hold up for a second” as I open the pizza box and pull out three slices.  I hold them out to Gypsy as I’m pulled past her to Rainn’s bedroom.  In the back of my head is R. Kelly’s “Seem Like You’re Ready.”  I’m gonna approach this with old school finess.

Meeting Street Homes at Rosedale Board Goes Bonkers

Jamie Darche Warren
Katherine (Kathy) Lenze

"Board Decision:
After discussion and meeting, the Board of Directors has voted to keep all the fines and move forward with the lien.  Your payment plan offer was submitted to the Board separately- as soon as I (attorney/collections office) receive the feedback on this matter I will advise you accordingly."

Dear Jamie, Kathy, Harold, and Jill:

I AM NOT YOUR BITCH.

Furthermore, I served on the Board of Directors for ten years, and I have never seen ANY BULLSHIT LIKE THIS!!!  Who the hell you think you ALL are that you "ALL" were going to approve my "payment plan?"  Clearly, you must think that I am Bozo the Clown!

Our subdivision consists of 33 units (under 50 units):  YOU ALL can't hide!  Really?  Continue dodging me. When the next special meeting comes up,  please make sure that  I am on the AGENDA.

Dear Amy Kinney Walsh of Key Community Management:  I definitely need the minutes for the above referenced Board of Directors meeting as soon as you can.  The Charlotte NAACP is waiting on this documentation.  On a separate note, I appreciate you acknowledging receipt of my prior request.

To my fellow Association members:  You are welcomed to continue to do Nothing like you have for the last decade.  It was suggested that if I do not like the way that I am being treated that I can relocate. My response is that Blacks in the South have always have had to deal with racist White people.  It's 2017 - nothing has changed . . . .  and in the words of Jennifer Holliday:
I'm stayin', I'm stayin'
And you, and you, and you
You're gonna love me .  . .

Jamie, Kathy, Harold, Jill:  Read between the lines. (above)

Chapter seven

I wake up to a dead phone.  I jump out of the bed to put my phone on the charger and head to the bathroom.  I must have let it die talking to Rainn all last night into the early morning.  I hadn’t been out of her presence a whole ten minutes when I stopped at a red light and called her.  She answered the phone with “you took entirely too long.”

I still can't believe that I am still smiling about last night.  I take a leak. I hop in the shower. I'm feeling on top of the world.  At least, until I realize that I left my ounce at Rainn's spot.  Looks like I'll have to raid my roach bowl.  I'll get my gas later.  As soon as I get out of the shower and walk back into my bedroom, I  notice three messages on my phone. They're from a number that I don't recognize.  I call the number back and Leslie answers the phone. She's Nasty's old flame.  She's calling to tell me that he got arrested last night and needs bail.

I ask how much and she tells me $37,000.00.  I ask her who he killed??  Her response was "Nobody fool, he got stopped for his taillight, and they found two ounces of meth in a secret compartment of his car."  I ask her if she has ten percent of 37K.  She says, "no fool, but you do."  I blow out some air and reply "I'd be a bigger fool if I accept your call again "Beeyotch!" Then I hang up.

The next call came from Rainn to say good morning.  I replied "It is now."  She giggled.  So I asked how my favorite girls were doing.  She said "Gypsy misses you.  She wants to know when you're coming back." I asked "what about you?"  She said "Ditto." I laughed then.  I explained what was going on, and I told her I'll swing through about 3 or 4 pm.  She said she'll be there waiting and we hung up

Now, I have to go and raid my stash away money and see exactly what I have.  I can't let my dude sit up in the "jail hell."  I know what that's like all too good.

I counted a little over seven bands.  Shit! Half of my stash! He had best pay it all back with a little interest.  I put the money in a paper bag and lock up my apartment.  In my ride, I call the jail bondsman.  All of them are sharks, but I guess they got to eat too. I pull up at Richmond County Jail and head straight for the release center.  I've already got my I.D., social security card, and money ready for the processing. I hope this shit doesn't take too long.  After doing a bid, I hate this scene . . .  Damn.

Ethereal Evening at Painting with a Twist

"Ethereal Evening" was my fourth painting class in a two year span.

Unlike most of my painting classes at "Painting with a Twist," I started with a blank canvas versus a sketch to color in.

I envisioned a full moon from the start of the painting.  I saw past the tree as a focal point.

I knew that this painting was going to be either a "disaster" or a "work of art."

I wanted deviation, but not a disaster.  I gradually pulled the picture together.

I used chalk to guide me with my tree strokes.

My final painting has received outstanding recognition.  Thanks Kisha for being my "artender!"

Chapter Six

We almost couldn’t find a place to park.  It’s so packed at Wild Wings that you could tell that they added extra security.  Rainn is looking so sexy.  She has on a tight fitting red dress. Body hugging is a better description because this dress is hugging her every curve.  Matching open toed heels and hair band.  To say she has pretty feet and toes would be an understatement. This girl is a perfect 10.  And the raven black hair brings out the grey in her eyes.  I wish that I was a painter.  She would look spectacular on canvas. I almost didn’t want to come out.  When I first seen her in the dress, I lost my cool, and said “Damn! You look good enough to eat.” She laughed it off and lit up one of the blunts.  But keeping it real, ever since I said it, I haven’t stopped thinking about it.  I mean, she looks insatiable.  She really looks like she taste good, and I can’t stop thinking about putting my tongue in so many sweet spots.

Back to the situation at hand, the inside of Wild Wings is almost as bad as the parking lot.  It takes 30 minutes before we finally get a table, and it is like midway from the stage.  The atmosphere is chaotic.  Everyone’s anxious to hear Hilary Scott.  The group got their start right here in Augusta after all.

During the performance, all my attention was basically on Rainn.  I wasn’t the only guy paying her attention.  Almost every male in the spot would take several looks. A lot of the females noticed her as well.  I felt like the luckiest guy in the world.  She ordered for both of us.  Two baked chicken platters, two large salads, one basket of cinnamon bread sticks, two shots of Grey Goose Vodka followed by two glasses of Long Island Ice tea.  I enjoyed every minute of being with her.  The night couldn’t get any better.  To say that it was great, wouldn’t even begin to describe it correctly.

On the drive back, I complimented her again on her dressing style.  She obviously has “class.”  She told me how much she enjoyed my company and said she hadn’t had a night worth remembering in awhile.  I almost bit my tongue.  I was so speechless.  She just smiled and told me that she would like to hang out again.  While walking her to her door, she said “Don’t act like you’re too busy to call just to have me call you.”  I was about to reply while standing at her door, but all of a sudden she raised up on her tip toes and kissed me on the lips.  I slowly placed my hands on her waist and hips as the kiss deepened.  I was lost in it.  She tasted like Peppermint Schnapps.  I could of stood there kissing her forever, but the moment was interrupted by scratching sounds and whinning.  Gypsy was at the door wanting to see her mama.  I told her goodnight, and I’d definitely call “sooner than she expected.”

When she opened the door, Gypsy came barreling out straight at me.  She knocked me down and started licking all over my face.  I could here Rainn laughing.  Hell, I was too! I guess Gypsy wanted her special goodnight kiss too.

Chapter Five

She suggests we take her vehicle. It’s a nice little Honda Civic. “Cool” I respond, but I also explain that I don’t want to leave my car in the parking lot.  I keep it real with her and explain why.  She says it’s no problem; just come with her.  I go out to her car with her and she drives me to mine, then tells me to follow her.  I end up at her apartment.  She stays in Cherry Tree Crossing, an upscale apartment complex.  I leave my ride at her place and jump in the passenger seat.  I say “Boy, you are a mighty trusting soul, I might be a serial killer or something.”  She asks “Are you?” I say “hell no!” She responds with “You know you’re the same way don’t you?” I ask her what she means. She tells me “Wait until you see my driving,” and with a devious smile she hits the gas.

We spend the rest of the day together feeling each other out.  I’m sprung already, and I just met her.  I haven’t even smoked yet.  Being with her is like walking on a cloud though.  She’s a definite keeper.  We decide to kick it some more, and she has no plans for tonight.  She asks “What about Wild Wings Café? A band that reminds me of Lady Antebellum is performing there tonight.”  “Cool” I respond.  “How about we meet back up at your spot in an hour?” I suggest. She counters with “Why don’t you just chill out at ‘my spot.’ I need to freshen up and check on some things while there if you’re allowed that is.”   I know that she didn’t just challenge me.  I think to myself. I can’t help but to smile.

Her apartment is “banging.” It’s three floors with a balcony in the back overlooking a small lake.  The view is terrific, and I tell her so.  The colors are all wrong for me though.  Too much pink, yellow, and rose.  It’s definitely a woman’s touch.  She looks at me with those intense grey eyes and it’s like she’s penetrating my very soul.  All of a sudden I’m nervous and I ask ”What?”

She gives me a sly smile and says “I just remembered what you told me was in your car. I have some strawberry-kiwi wraps, and we have about two and a half hours before the show starts at Wild Wings. You get the green, and I’m gonna jump in the shower.”

I tear it down out the door and to my car.  I grab the ounce from under the seat, lock the car, and head back up to her apartment.  I walk in, close the door, and lock it.  As soon as I turn around, sitting ten feet in front of me is one the largest red nosed pit bulls that I’ve ever seen.

I note that it’s a “she,” and she’s not growling or bearing teeth, so I make my way to the sofa SLOWLY.  She looks at the bag in my hand and licks her chops.  So I play it cool and speak.  “Hi there girl, are you hungry?” She instantly jumps up and trots toward me. She sniffs the bag, and I pat her head and scratch behind her ears.  She is a big girl, almost up to my waist.  I notice that she has grey eyes too.  She hops up on the sofa and lays her head in my lap.  I place the bag on the coffee table and continue to pat and scratch her.

After awhile, I sense someone watching.  I look up and see Rainn leaning against the entry way staring at us.  She’s wrapped in a short robe complete with hair wrapped in a pink towel.  Her grey eyes lock with mine, and she says “Gypsy, down.”  The pit immediately hops down with a small whine and trots over to a bean bag in the corner of the room.  Rainn says “she’s so spoiled.  She only likes you because you brought green.”  I smile and say “Everybody likes me; all for different reasons though.”

She laughs and tells me I can use the shower if I want.  She’ll roll a couple of blunts while I’m in there and then get dressed.  I had to take up that offer.  Everything was going so well. I didn’t want to spoil it and since my apartment water only gets lukewarm at best, I practically ran to the shower.

Numbers 22:28-31 Bible Messages

New International Bible verses Numbers 22:28-31

Then the Lord opened the donkey's mouth, and she said to Balaam, "What have I done to you to make you beat me these three times?"

Balaam answered the donkey, " You have made a fool of me! If I had a sword in my hand, I would kill you right now."  The donkey said to Balaam, "Am I not your own donkey, which you have always ridden to this day?

Have I been in the habit of doing this to you?" "No," he said.

Then  the Lord opened Balaam's eyes, and he saw the angel of the Lord standing in the road with his sword drawn.  So he bowed low and fell face down.

Message:
 Even an "ASS" can preach.

Chapter Four
Autumn Rainn Wilson is her name, and I am definitely in love.

When she told me her complete name, I told her that I had to meet her parents that day! She asked me "Why?" I said "For two reasons only; one, to congratulate them for making you, and two, to find out what kind of 'good' green they were smoking when they named you?"  She burst out laughing and told me I was too cute.  She remembered me from prison.  One weekend visitation her brother and I had together.  We were in the same dorm, and we used to play chess and spades together.  He was one of the coolest White boys I've ever met.  He wasn't a follower nor scary as hell like a lot of those other clowns that I was locked up with.  He introduced me to his family, and I did the same.  She was younger back then that's why I didn't remember her.  I remembered her name though "RAINN."  The fact that she prefers to go by her middle name gave us the first thing we had in common.  She said she remembered me because I was funny as hell and she thought I was probably the only Black guy her brother ever talked about that didn’t try to cross him.  I said “Oh, I thought you remembered me because I was so handsome.”  She giggled again.  I think to myself that I could really get lost in her smile and her eyes.  I actually tell her this, and I can’t believe that she’s single.  She replies “There’s not a lot of guys around and definitely not any good ones.”  I said “Please don’t tell me you have a partner or girlfriend.” She says “I have alot of girlfriends . . . but not like what you’re thinking; I have sorority sisters.  Otherwise, I’m strictly dickly.”

Now, it’s my turn to giggle; partly from relief. If she was into girls, then my work would’ve been cut out for me.  I’d be willing to put in the necessary work and overtime though.  From what I could tell so far, she was well worth it.  Relationship material is hard to catch nowadays.  Most just want to “hook up” for the night or weekend.  Everyone’s tough and independent in the 2000’s.  I pull out my phone and ask her for “just a minute” as I call B-Nasty.  He answers with a “Fool, where you at?  I’ve been here about ten minutes now.  We got shit to do.” I tell him “change of plans, we gotta hook up later on maybe.”  I briefly explain, and he gives me his “blessing.”  I respond with “Fuck you and Dick off.” I’m laughing the whole time though.  My dude is my dude.

I put my phone up and ask Rainn what her plans are?  She tells me that “whatever they were, they changed when I chased her down.”  I’m falling for her more and more.  I ask “my ride or yours?”

Is Key Community Management discriminatory?

Key Community Management Inc. web page pictured above asks if I am puzzled by the lack of communication and excessive fees?  YES, I am totally displeased with the lack of communication with Key Community Management community manager, Amy Kinney Walsh.

I have never spoken to Amy Kinney Walsh.  Amy Kinney Walsh has never returned my phone calls. Amy Kinney Walsh did not send me a "dated final notice" prior to having their attorneys file a lien against my property.  I even left her a voicemail in December/ January about how I was trying to stabilize my banking situation after being hit with a $44,000.00 levy.  Amy was a new liason for our community.  In my voicemail, I emphasized that I was a former officer of the HOA Board and that I was very informed of the history of our community.  Since I never received a return phone call, I thought that everything was in a pending state until I could get refocused on my HOA responsibilities.

In addition, I knew that Brian and Jamie Darche Warren (a White couple) had received a phone call on August 12, 2010 (pictured above) prior to the Legal lien on December 16, 2010 on their property at  13127 Rosedale Hill Ave. Surely, Key Community Management was going to extend me (a Black woman) the same courtesy of a phone call before submitting my file for formal legal action.

Yet, they did not.  I even asked the attorneys on March 13, 2017 to inform Key Community Management, Inc. that I was disappointed with the absence of a courtesy phone call because I had been waiting for a verification of debt letter.  I did not receive a verification of debt letter from the attorney office until March 11, 2017 despite both email and written requests being sent beginning February 27, 2017.  I had to mail off a return receipt letter around March 2, 2017 because I had not received an email response from the attorney's office.

I did not receive a Key Community Management response from my March 13, 2017 letter until the attorney emailed me on March 30, 2017.

I feel like a victim of discrimination surrounding my race by Key Community Management, Inc of Matthews, NC.  The all White member HOA Board lead by Jamie Darche Warren has had a history of excluding Blacks.  Brian and Jamie Darche Warren were also the couple that introduced and assisted Key Community Management to abruptly take over our Association account from a different management company about a decade ago.  Despite a foreclosure on one of the Association's properties, the Warrens continue to lead our community. Being White definitely comes with privileges in the case of our Association and the community management company, Key Community Management of Matthews, NC.
