The Two Dollar Nail Service

Labor:  10 minutes    Parts: $2.00

The Dollar Tree stores offer the "Sassy+Chic"  brand of nails.  I decided on a deeper French look.  There are 12 pieces in each pack.  $1.00 USD per pack which is enough for 10 fingers.  The nail glue is sold separately.  The actual nails are a little rigid to the touch, but they are so quick and easy.

The Sassy + Chic Instant Nail Glue costs $1.00 USD.  It had a great hold, and it was painless to remove the next day.  A buffer is needed to remove the additional nail glue residue.

A perfect solution for the red carpet without a nail appointment.

September 2015 Body Transformation Challenge Charlotte

So I paid $30 to enter this eight week contest in July 2015 where HerbaLife distributors advertised that three winners in each of the seven categories would get a payout plus one Grand Champion.   In order to collect your winnings, the September 2015 payout required winners to be present at the HerbaLife event.

So  I attended the September 2015 Payout event.

Unfortunately, only five of the seven categories had three winners.  Two of the categories only had one winner.  The BTC Committee Charlotte broke their promise. They mislead participants with false advertisement, and they emphasized a non-refundable entry fee.

In one of the categories, a husband and wife, both HerbaLife VIP's, walked away with $350 in total payout toward their one household.

In many of the categories, veteran HerbaLife distributors was walking away with $225 payouts.

The HerbaLife distributor handing out the certificates in this category pictured above actually took home the $400 Grand Champion payout plus $100 for having the most winners from his team. $500 total.

So for the rest of us who took off work, took away time from family, watched the HerbaLife distributors pay each other off and  accepted these paper certificates that did not even have our names written on them, we were blown away at this mockery of a real contest.

They should have a separate contest for non-HerbaLife distributors, and the BTC Committee should be more considerate of others' time.  I did not hear any fair accountability of how they determined the winners of the categories.  It just looked shady to me which is my opinion.

Also, I understood there to be over $3000.00 in prizes.  The payouts for the following five categories:
  • Total Body Weight Percentage Lost
  • Total Body Fat Percentage Lost
  • Best 40 and Older- Before/After
  • Best Male - Muscle Definition
  • Best Female - Body Sculpting

were
  • $225 for 1st place
  • $125 for 2nd place
  • $70 for 3rd place.

For the following two categories: Best Male- Before/After and Best Female Before/After had only ONE winner at $200 each.

And as I mentioned before - the Grand Champion collected $400. Also, the HerbaLife distributor with the most winners was awarded $100.

By my calculations, exactly $3000.00 cash was paid out, and many of the recipients were veteran HerbaLife distributors.

The next BTC starts again soon.  You fooled me once - shame on you BTC Committee Charlotte.  You fool me twice - shame on me. This contest in my opinion is unethical, and HerbaLife should be ashamed for requiring people to be attend only to be handed a blank HerbaLife certificate.

North Carolina Employment Law Basics Excerpt

Excerpt from ParsonsSumma.com:

THE BASICS OF LABOR & EMPLOYMENT LAW

SummaGlobe
by:  Kevin V. Parsons
For most businesses, the greatest threat of liability arises from the employment relationship. It is a common misconception, held by many employers in North Carolina, that because their employees are employed “at will”, management can act as they see fit to manage or terminate that relationship. Although it is true that employees are presumed to be employed “at will” in the absence of a written employment agreement for a specified duration, the legal regulations that apply to employment are complex, often confusing, and significantly curtail an employer’s freedoms to manage employees. Consequently, a simplified, practical understanding of the basic principles of employment law is essential for employers to avoid the potential liabilities presented by mismanaging employment relationships. The following is an effort to provide employers with general principles applicable to their legal relationships with their employees but is not designed to provide the fully informed legal counsel necessary for employers to make sound decisions about specific legal issues. Employers should consult with a qualified employment attorney for questions about specific legal issues.

Kevin V. Parsons  has worked extensively in the past with Carolinas Healthcare System. My interpretation of his statement is that employers such as Carolinas Healthcare System see their employees more as a "number" rather than "real people with their own financial obligations."  Any employers that mistreat and disrespect their employees using the "at will" employment law in North Carolina as a justifiable excuse for misconduct should not be allowed to profit from its employees' benefit coverages.  If "Healthcare" is even part of an employer's name, then they actually should learn to care about their own employees' well-being first.

My opinion expressed here is not meant to be any type of legal opinion nor legal advice. Any employment law questions can be directed to ParsonsSumma Law firm.

Deer and Rabbit: Neighbors of Huntersville, NC

This "deer" family of six are native to the Huntersville Business Park.  They are accustom to people, and the pedestrians and cyclists are comfortable with them.

I was not sure what this animal was upon initial view.

Then I realized that we have a "rabbit" in Rosedale/Huntersville.

These fuzzy neighbors are heartwarming and in the town of Huntersville.
