Panera Bread: The Lunch Spot for "Pink slips"
I was eating lunch in Panera Bread last month just after New Years when there were about six people discussing how a co-worker was not working out. No one had any identifying logos on their shirts; so I have no idea which company that the group represented. However, the consensus of the group was that the "guy" was not up to speed and was not working quickly enough in his spare time to get up to speed. One lady was ready to hand the guy a "pink slip." Another guy suggested everyone take one job component and begin training him individually.
I have no idea who the guy was, but he should be thanking God that some of his co-workers were willing to give him some more time to become more efficient in his job. The group set up the same time and place for next month before going their separate ways.
Then another couple took over their table, and guess what this couple was discussing? Yes, another employee that was not producing at yet another company.
The two co-workers were looking at charts on the computer, and they stated clearly the employee in question was not meeting production.
I was amazed that my whole lunch was surrounding people potentially getting fired within the next month.
On another note, if all your co-workers are taking lunch at the exact same time, then you might want to drop by Panera Bread for lunch. You may never know who might be there!
